Catasauqua Area School District has devoted funds to purchase teacher iPads that will be used to:

‍1) meet the demands of the Common Core Standards (curriculum alignment, skills, text complexity, level of rigor)


‍2) refine one-to-one student conferencing practices and improve feedback to students

‍3) increase student egagement/motivation using a variety of apps, educational tools, interactive books, etc.

‍4) grow as a professional in education

3. Using the iPad as an Instructional/Feedback Tool

  • Dropbox - Any file you save to your Dropbox will automatically save to all your computers, phones and even the Dropbox website; Great for saving large picture and video files. To get started be sure to install Dropbox to your PC/Mac to take advantage of all of its features. See video for a brief overview
  • Install the Dropbox app

    1. Start by downloading Dropbox on each computer, smartphone, and tablet you want to sync with
    2. When installing, you will be prompted to enter sign in or create a new account. You only need one account no matter how many devices you want to keep in sync
    3. Once Dropbox is installed, you'll notice a new Dropbox folder on your hard drive. Add files to your Dropbox folder, and Dropbox will automatically watch them and make sure they are in sync. You can now access your files through the Dropbox website
    4. Once you have installed the application on each of your computers using the same Dropbox login, your files will appear in the Dropbox folders of those computers as well

      • Go to:http://www.corestandards.org/ELA-Literacy and select 1 Reading or Literacy in the SS, Science, Technical Subjects standard.
      • Take a screen shot of the standard you want to use
      • Open Screenchomp - Draw & Record - Select the screeenshot background from your library and resize/zoom as necessary
      • Click record and explain the concepts and skills involved in the standard you selected
      • Provide an example of a sample activity/performance task that could be used to address the standard
      • Stop your recording and enter your last names as the title of the recording
      • Share - Copy the link and paste in an email and send it to lutzdoemlingc@cattysd.org
  • Class Dojo -ClassDojo is a classroom tool that helps teachers improve behavior in their classrooms quickly and easily. It also captures and generates data on behavior that teachers can share with parents and administrators. http://teach.classdojo.com/login
